Simply THE BEST! Dr. Sekhon did surgery on my back after i broke it in a freak accident. ( trying to pull a 130 lb bail of hay up in to my truck bed. My body was at a weird angle,so when i pulled,heard 2 loud pops.down I went for about 15 minutes. Once I could walk,drove home. Figured I was ok. By that night, was pretty sore. Was telling friends on Fb what happened,many said I needed to go to ER. as i have a neurological disease & they were worried. One actually called the ambulance that took me. That is when i met Dr Sekhon. Because of the neuro disease and dystonia, he wanted to be as conservative as possible. I had a four level

I had a four level laminectomy operation with Dr. Seckhon. He was the only surgeon that suggested something different than a fusion, which I was very afraid of. Everything went absolutely well, it solved all my problems and I’m back almost at the same level I was years ago before the start of my problems.

What a great Doctor!

What a great Doctor! I appreciate that Dr. Sekhon has a very conservative approach about suggesting what the right path of therapy should be for me, he makes sure that on rocks are overturned before moving forward. I knew that I was placing my health in the right hands to trust with my Spine/neck fusion of disc surgery. In January of 2020, I went ahead with the surgery, and I was in the hospital for one day, and I have no pain in my neck or spinal region since. For the following two weeks that I was off work, but I was able to sleep for 10-12 hours a night and get out and walk trails again for the first time in over a year. Life is getting back to normal again and with no pain! Simply put; Dr. Sekhon is probably one of the best neurosurgeons in Reno.

I have had neck pain with numbness for the past few years. I have tried countless injections, months of physical therapy, and various other modalities. Once I felt like I was about to cross the bridge and consider opiates to treat the pain, I started to go neurosurgeon shopping.

I saw a total of three neurosurgeons before deciding on Dr. Sekhon. The first two I saw didn’t really perform much of an assessment, barely listened, and frankly spoke to me like I was a “dumb” 25 year old. I am a paramedic, so I would like to assume that I am not as dumb as most of my generation.

My first visit with Dr. Sekhon and Curt was pretty simple and straight forward. They reviewed my MRI and my symptoms, and then something crazy happened. They actually performed a complete neuro-exam! They explained my options, they didn’t talk down to me.

I decided on surgery since it appeared that I exhausted all of my options. It was pretty apparent the level of professionalism and genuine kindness that Dr. Sekhon expects from everyone in his office. From scheduling my consult to scheduling surgery, everyone took the time to explain everything that was needed to be done, and answered all of my questions no matter how silly they were.

My pre-op appointment was the night before, and Curt went over every sentence in the consent paperwork as well as walking me through the initial 24 hours post surgery. I spent probably an hour with him.

The morning of surgery, I checked into RRMC and they did the usual “show up three hours before, and sit around on a bed waiting for us to complete 15 minutes worth of work to get you ready for surgery.”

Here’s the weirdest part though. When I went back to the OR, I didn’t have any pre-op sedation. I was somewhat nervous, considering it was spine surgery, and I was on the other side of things. Dr. Sekhon, Greg, the RN, and some random med student actually took the time and talked with me knowing full well how nervous I was. Once the anesthesiologist arrived I was pretty much out in 30 seconds with a tube down my throat.

I woke up in Recovery and it was pretty uneventful besides the nurse allowing me to make phone calls. The floor was pretty laid back too. Most patients get private rooms on Sierra 1, so you don’t have to worry about a roommate that smells of old feet.

Right now I am on Post Op day 4 and I am not on any pain medications and I probably will be going back to work in 11 days.

Although Dr. Sekhon has horrible taste in hockey, he is a pretty good neurosurgeon who actually takes the time and effort to actually listen.

Dr. Sekhon and his staff are amazing. I had a s-4 s-5 laminectomy and discectomy. Who knew one of the United States top spine surgeons practiced in Reno? After spending almost a month in agony after re-injuring my back I’m now pain-free. Doctor Sekhon was very professional and showing me on my MRI what exactly my problem was and explaining how it could be fixed very simply. Even a non-professional like myself could understand what was going on on the MRI. After all this he asked if I had any questions I asked him how many times he’d done this surgery his answer was about 5000! I couldn’t think of any good questions after that… Have to comment about his anesthesiologist too on the day of surgery he came by to see me in pre-op. He clearly saw I was a little nervous about getting back surgery I mean who wouldn’t be? He said he would give me something to relax me he put something in my IV and the next thing I know I was waking up in post-op with the nurse saying it was all over! That’s how it should be done so you don’t have time to worry about stuff! Well done doc. Post-op instructions and visits were very well planned and clear instructions. If you have spine issues this is where you want to be. I went back to the VA after surgery and spoke to the patient advocate about my good experience and recommended that they send more people to Dr Sekhon. This very knowledgeable Doctor and his team are truly awesome; others’ comments below concerning the same are highly accurate. About 5 years ago had two collapsed disks in my neck (old series of injuries) aggravated by a last-straw fall. Left arm and shoulder pain were untouchable by heavy meds or physical therapy. Lali believes in being informative, very conservative and non-invasive; surgery being only as a last resort. In my case, there was not an option and needed it done as soon as scheduling permitted. 2nd day after the surgery my wife felt the need to yell at me because I was not following post-op orders; I felt no pain. 5+ years in and still doing great. The metal plate/screws in my neck do not even set off the TSA metal scanners. Bonus round 🙂 If I ever have need to be back in a doctors’ and his terrific teams’ care for anything having to do with nero/spine, my big hope is that Lali is still here in Reno, and continuing to practice. Totally a miracle! People who have had similar back surgeries think I probably didn’t have “real” back surgery because my recovery was so successful. I was referred to Dr. Sekhon by another pain specialist in town. My pain specialist had tried all of the prescribed conservative treatments and none of them had any effect on the debilitating pain I was suffering. My symptoms progressed amazingly fast. I went from having some trouble walking to not being able to walk, sit or stand in a matter of about 3 weeks. For all intents and purposes I was crippled. Dr. Sekhon saw immediately that I was a candidate for surgery. The hope he gave me was the first hope I had experienced in a long time. When I was finished with my surgery I was able to walk from the gurney to the hospital bed without any pain at all. I suffered some complications, one of which required a second surgery (I think I did something stupid during my recovery) and one of which required bed rest for a week or so. That, however, was just the beginning. I needed frequent consultations about my problems with the physician’s assistant (Dr. Erickson) and the promptness of his responses and the care he demonstrated were unbelievable. I rarely had to wait more than 5 minutes for a response from Dr. Erickson when I called and when I spoke to him I felt that he really cared about me and my troubles. Dr. Sekhon is a great surgeon, but that is just part of the story. His people clearly pride themselves itself on providing top notch post-op care to their patients, even if the care is needed in the evening or the weekend. I cannot say enough positive things about my experiences with Dr. Sekhon and Nevada Neurosurgery. If you are experiencing leg or back pain do not hesitate to schedule and appointment with this office.

On my initial visit to Dr Sekhon for a fractured vertebra I was seen promptly at my scheduled time. I was seen first by P.A. Greg and then by Greg and Dr. Sekhon. Both seemed to be thoroughly familiar with my situation from a detailed review of all of the information I had provided including the nature of my injury, MRIs and X-rays, and other tests and their results. They each listened intently to my description of current pain symptoms and then completed a test of my leg strength and sensitivity, etc. Dr. Sekhon then described my surgical options including risks and recovery times but stated that at this time he would not recommend surgery (barring further deterioration) since my vertebra fracture appeared to have stabilized. Instead he ordered additional MRIs, and prescribed aquatic therapy, to be possibly followed by lumbar ablation after my next visit for my lower back pain. Both men had great bedside manners and made me feel I was in good hands.

I visited two surgeons 8 years ago but didn’t proceed since it was a major fusion surgery and I hoped the procedures would improve over time. I consulted two surgeons again in January 2016. Dr. Sekhon was clear and straightforward in his evaluation. He gave me a more conservative surgery option than the other surgeon I consulted. The surgery included a L4-L5 decompressive laminectomy, bilateral foraminotomies and posterior lumbar fusion. I always had some daily back pain plus my back would “go out” every couple months. The last few years I also had pain down my legs from my sciatic nerves. After the surgery, I had no pain down my legs and my previous aching back pain was gone. The pain from the surgery improved every week. As soon as I was released from the hospital, I was walking on my own and now at week seven of recovery, I walk and have started using an exercise bike every day. Dr Sekhon, his assistant Greg and staff always gave the care, concern and information I needed. I like to be active but always had my back pain limiting my activities. I recently retired and I know this surgery will help me continue to enjoy an active lifestyle. I am so glad Dr Sekhon was my surgeon. In 2006 I suffered a level 5 brain aneurysm that ruptured. I live 3 1/2 hours away from Reno. I had Neck and shoulder pain for years which has been cured after 6 week after operation. I had 5 cervical vertebrae fused and titanium wires and screws put into cervical area . This straightened out a very crooked neck with a pinched spinal cord and herniated disc .Dr Sekhon was a wonderful surgeon who let me know what I was in for before I signed up for the surgery. I also interviewed 2 other surgeons but picked Dr Sekhon because of the number of these surgeries he had already done with great success. Dr. Sekhon is a godsend! I have been struggling with lower back pain for years and have tried everything from chiropractic, to massage, to acupuncture, to injection therapy. I’ve been diagnosed with bulging discs in L4-L5 & L5-S1 and was told that the pain was due to the discs being inflamed and degenerated… and that the ONLY course of action was to fuse L5-S1. I decided on my own to start decompression therapy… and that did help the bulging discs, but the pain would not go away and felt like it was just getting worse. The diagnosis from my previous doctor was right and wrong… the pain is in the facet joints of L4-L5, not the discs. Thank you, Dr. Sekhon for reading my MRI and X-Rays and finding the real cause of my pain. The joint is arthritic and the nerves are inflamed. One cortisone shot later in each side and a prescription for a nerve medication and I’m feeling like a million bucks! I’m exercising again, walking my dog to the point of her being exhausted instead of me crying in pain, and I’m just loving life again. The weekend after the shot, I did a 5 mile hike… something I haven’t been able to do in years. I’ve been telling everyone I know about Dr. Sekhon and how he’s all about fixing the problem instead of doing surgery when it’s not necessary like some practices. I could kiss him! He saved me from what would have been a failed and unnecessary fusion.

In September of 2016 Dr.

In September of 2016 Dr. Sekhon did an Anterior Cervical Decompression with Fusion at C5-C7. Then in April of 2017 Dr. Sekhon also did a Semi Hemispherical Laminectomy with Microdiscectomy at L5-S1. While I am still healing, I can say that there was immediate relief of pain with both surgeries. The post-op pain was fairly minimal all things considered, easily manageable with the prescribed medication. While not important to me personally, the scarring from the neck surgery is barely noticeable and I suspect after some time will become even less so. It is too soon to tell how the back incision will heal, but I do have a tattoo that had to be cut in order to perform the surgery and Dr. Sekhon definitely took the time to line everything back up to make it look as inconspicuous as possible. Curt Erikson PA-C, one of Dr. Sekhon’s assistants, is a great help, and always takes the time to cover any additional concerns or questions that you may have. Greg Graves PA is also very quick to respond. The entire office staff, from scheduling to admission and billing are always extremely polite, professional and helpful. I would highly recommend Nevada Neurosurgery and Dr. Sekhon. I would also like to thank Allison, Tiffany, Jennifer and all the rest of the office staff that I may and probably have forgotten. I believe that the dedication, training and commitment to excellence shine bright with this team and I will always remember how great my experience with them has been. I wanted to wait a full year before my testimonial because my two previous surgeries failed within a years period. My previous surgeries were performed by a popular non evasive surgeon in RENO NV. He put in a ILIF that he is big on come to find out no one uses those anymore. Dr Sekhon looked at my MRI and could tell exactly where this Doctor had been hacking. Dr. Sekhon advised me what I needed and what my limitations would be and what I could and couldn’t do and also my options. There was no pressure and the decision was totally up to me. I elected to go with the surgery and am I ever glad I did. After surgery i was pain free and have remained pain free. In fact I have not felt this good in many years and i have to constantly remind myself not to do certain things because there is no pain to remind me. He removed the ILIF and performed a four level fusion. He came to my room the next day to see how I was doing with his assistant. I never saw the previous surgeon even after four office visits. His office continued to check up on me while in the hospital. And when it came time to check out he made sure i was released promptly by calling the nurses, unheard of with my experiences. Two months ago, I had lower back fusion surgery with six screws and bolts, etc for chronic back pain. The morning after a late surgery the day before I was walking the halls of the hospital with the aid of a walker. I have had NO more back pain (only surgery healing pain for a while). Dr.Sekhon spent 45 minutes with my husband and I at our initial consultation, and his calm demeanor put me at ease immediately. He erased my fears and showed great confidence in his ability to help me ( confidence is different than arrogance!). I decided to schedule the spinal fusion after years of failed attempts at other therapies. His two PAs are just phenomenal. Curt responds within just a few hours of calls or emails. My visits with him have been thorough. He even came to see me in the hospital, even though he wasn’t in my surgery. Greg, the PA who was in my surgery, was extremely attentive to my needs. He came to see my 5 times in my two day hospital stay. He called when he said he would call me after I went home. I had been having sever pain from a bulge in my L5S1 for years and was given pain management by a previous doctor the entire time without pushing the severity of my condition I had to reach out for myself. Neck surgery in Oct. 2016 was mostly pain free and was in & out of the hospital in 18 hours. No problems experienced other than having to stay free of any activity for a couple of weeks. 90 days later and life is back to normal except skiing & similar activities, until a full year has passed. Greg is very knowledgeable on any questions and also guides you on getting through the first 90 days, so you don’t over do activities, when you feel like you can. After treating with physical therapists and pain management docs for 15+ months at Spine Nevada for chronic lumbar spine issues, I was scheduled for a 5-level back surgery without ever being given the opportunity to meet my surgeon. I saw Dr. Sekhon as a referral from another physician who was treating me for back and spinal issues after seeing that I was now having structural deformities and my situation was more than just pain management. That physician told me that he would only refer his patients to Dr. Sekhon and no other neurosurgeon in the area. He also said that if he had to have back surgery that Dr. Sekhon would be the only one he would go to for the surgery.
After my MRI was submitted to Dr. Sekhon and reviewed I was called by his office to set up an appointment. His appointments were booked about 2 months out at the time so I made an appointment. I was called right before Christmas and told that there was a cancellation and asked if I could come in the next day, which I did. Dr. Sekhon showed me the MRI and how three of my discs were crushing my spinal column. He told me that unless I had the surgery soon that the nerves would die and I would suffer paralysis. He was very good in explaining everything that would happen during the surgery and post-op recovery and physical therapy afterwards. His explanations were so thorough that I had no questions to ask. I then called the next day to schedule surgery which was set for 4 weeks in the future.
The surgery was performed as scheduled. When I woke up in the recovery room most of my back and leg pain was already gone and some of the structural issues were already being resolved. He visited me twice in the hospital and explained what happened during surgery and assessed my current condition.
I was then set up with follow up appointments about 6 weeks apart to assess the status of my recovery and was put on a physical therapy program. I was also taken off all of the drugs that I had been taking for years as I no longer needed them. I no longer have any back pain or leg pain and the physical therapy is now restoring my functions that had been severely impeded in the 4+ years before my surgery.
I would strongly encourage anyone seeking neurosurgery to see Dr. Sekhon first before getting a second opinion. In retrospect, I should have seen Dr. Sekhon earlier and could have relieved a lot of pain and suffering that I needlessly endured for over 4 years.

My first surgery on my

My first surgery on my L5 S1 was done at Kaiser Sacramento the end of October. By the time I realized the surgery wasn’t successful I was due to start Medicare and lose Kaiser. My husband is a patient of Dr. Sekhon so he started the process of getting me seen as soon as I had my Medicare. I saw him on a Thursday and had surgery the following Monday after he saw the problem on my MRI. My leg pain was immediately gone. I am in my second week of PT, 8 weeks post-op. I know it will take at least a year to be 100% but so much better now. Plus, he said I could golf this summer. I have already recommended him to several friends having constant back pain. And his Physician Assistant Greg is wonderful.

If you were like me

If you were like me and were facing spinal/back surgery, and had heard all of the horror stories that about 90% of the people that had these were the same or worse off than before the surgery, you would certainly try and wait until you found that “top neurosurgeon” that everyone is looking to find. After developing structural problems that my pain management doctor could not address, he ordered a new MRI. After getting the radiologist report he said that he was coming to refer me for a surgical consultation with Dr. Sekhon. That doctor, and two of my other doctors, all said that if they had to have back/spinal surgery that Dr. Sekhon is the only doctor that they would let operate on them. I thought that this was a good recommendation so I set up an appointment to see Dr. Sekhon after he had studied my MRI. My wife went with me to our first visit. We found Dr. Sekhon to be very concerned about my condition and he took a lot of time to review the MRI scans, both from the side and from the to down, and explained what was going on. He said that if I did not have the surgery soon that I risked some of the nerves dying and that would cause permanent paralysis. He explained exactly what he would do in the surgery and had models of the spine for this particular procedure so I could see the results before and after surgery. Even I could see from the MRI scans how bad the compression of my spine had become so I called the next day to set up a date or surgery pending insurance approval. I did have another appointment with one of Dr. Sekhons PA’s who went over all of the pre-surgical procedures so I was completely prepared of what I was facing. They also told me that I would have to go to physical therapy, for from 4 to 10 weeks, after the surgical staples were removed. Dr. Sekhon also told me that it would take 3 months before healing was complete and it would take 12-13 months to fully recover from the surgery assuming that I went for the physical therapy.
On the day of surgery Dr. Sekhon came into the pre-surgical area and again explained the procedure in detail and mentioned all of the possible risks and side effects of the surgery. He then had the anesthesiologist come and talk with me about the procedure. Upon waking up in the recovery room I already felt that the pain and numbness in my legs and feet were already gone. He came in my hospital room the next day to talk about the surgery and how well it went.
My follow up appointments at 2 and 6 weeks went very well and the physical therapy is helping me to do things that I was not able to do the last 4 years. Dr. Sekhon and his staff took and genuine interest in my case and me as a person. I have absolutely no reservations in recommending him for neurosurgery of any kind. I am only 6 weeks out of the hospital and my recovery seems to be amazingly well. If I would have known the positive outcome of these results I would have HAD this surgery some time GO.

During physical therapy post full

During physical therapy post full hip replacement, I had continuous pain that would not abate. my therapist concluded after repeated attempts to solve my discomfort that my hip was not the source of the pain but rather my spine and identified the cause as L2/L3. I’m not one to do

I’m not one to do testimonials, typically, but I was very impressed with my experience at Sierra Neurosurgery, and Dr Sekhon in particular.
I fell and injured my spinal cord at work, and my ability to walk, stand balanced and move around were rapidly diminishing. Day, by day my symptoms were getting worse. During my first visit with Dr. Sekhon, he reassured me that he was going to fix the problem. I had some doubt but my fears and concerns were put to rest by his professionalism and confidence. I am a 61 year old athlete and I suffered with sever stenosis and spinal nerve impingement for the last 8-10 years. Being am an avid outdoor enthusiast who LOVES skiing, hiking and Mt Biking, then having to stop all of these sports because of the severe pain in both legs and constant cramps in my hamstrings and calf’s. I was devastated and mentally depressed. I literally could not walk over 100 yards without having to stop…the daily pain became unbearable. Huge doses of pain meds was not an option for me.
The L3-L4-L5-S1 laminectomy preformed by this skillful surgeon gave me back my life, literally. The same day of surgery, I instantly felt the pain relief and the complete elimination of all my leg muscle cramps.

Dr. Sekhon saw me after I broke my neck Snowboarding in Mammoth, CA. They air lifted me to Reno to have surgery done by Dr. Sekhon. My first surgery was 8 hours after my injury. I ruptured my c5 and split my c6 in half. They had to go in and pull some pieces of bone out of my spinal cord.
I am a 24 year old, very active male. I surf, snowboard, and workout daily. Dr. Sekhon promised me I would be able to do all three again when I was done with my surgery. On my first visit with Dr. Sekhon he explained my problem with visual clarity using my MRI. There was no problem with accepting his recommendation of performing surgery on L5, L4, L3 and removing the Lamina section of the vertebra that was pinching nerves in my right leg. Dr. Sekhon in my opinion is the best there is when it comes to back & neck issues. I originally was referred to Dr. Sekhon in 2010 when I had ruptured a disc in my neck. He sat down with me and explained everything in detail and answered all of my questions and together we decided for a discectomy and fusion. My husband had the same surgery years ago and the surgeon used a piece of bone from his hip, he still suffers from aches and pains years later, so this was a worry for me. Dr. Sekhon is up to date on all the new techniques and is minimally invasive as possible and was able to reassure me that I would not need this option. I had my surgery quickly and the relief was instant. I was able to go back to work at my office job within a week and healed amazingly fast. In 2014 I found myself with an injured back with no remedy from non surgical treatments. When my doctor asked me if I had a preference of doctors, I knew immediately that I needed to be under Dr. Sekhon’s care again. Surgery was needed and I was at ease knowing that I would be under the best care. I had a laminectomy done on my lower back and everything went as expected. I returned to work 2 weeks later and by my 12 week post op I was back to good again. Recently, I had a spinal surgery performed by Dr. Sekhon. Because of my experiences with his practice prior to the surgery, on the day of surgery, during the aftercare and then follow-up, I can honestly say that he is elite among his peers in every way!
On my 2nd appointment with his practice, I met with Dr. Sekhon. I found that he had prepared for my appointment by being familiar with my case already. No time was wasted! Dr Sekhon is the most brilliant and gifted in his field. He performed a 5-level cervical fusion on me 2 months ago and I am hiking and working out at the gym again. He suggests his patients try all other less invasive avenues before surgery, which I really appreciated. Unfortunately, they didn’t fix my problem. This doctor explains things thoroughly and in a language lay people can understand. He’s caring, thorough, and shows compassion and understanding to his patients. I have found every member of the staff to be the same. The office staff is very competent and pleasant to deal with. I honestly don’t have anything negative to say about my experience with Dr. Sekhon. I would highly recommend him to anyone, anytime. I start my PT in a couple of days and I’m doing exceptionally well. If you have a problem, choose Dr. Sekhon. You won’t be disappointed!

After several months of pain

After several months of pain and loss of function in my right leg and several visits to a variety of medical responses I finally got my primary care doctor / insurance company to get an MRI. This drew an immediate response and a quick referral to Dr Sekhon the next day, it was a Thursday, he took one look at the MRI and looked me straight in the eye “this need to be fixed now” was his response. Ok, I was in pain and ready for anything. I had surgery the next Monday, that’s four days. Dr Sekhon was serious as I understand getting on a surgical calendar usually takes longer than that. Also my insurance company had taken Friday off and approval was not received until the morning of surgery and Dr Sekhon was ready to call it an emergency, fortunately that did not happen.
My recovery has been speedy and visits to his office pleasant and efficient and both Dr Sekhon and Lisa answered my questions to my satisfaction.

It’s been one year since

It’s been one year since i had surgery on my neck….things are wonderful. I had 2 vertebrae replaced and 3 disk fused. It took awhile for my body to figure out what happened. Dr Sehkon was very thorough with my examination.. He took his time and explained all details of my surgery to me and my husband. He went over the x-rays and showed the procedures that he would be doing in the surgery, answering all questions in clear fashion.. When I was referred to Dr. Lali Sekhon by my family physician, Patricia Levan, M.D., I went with jangled nerves. I learned as soon as I met Dr. Sekhon that I need not have worried. I found that Dr. Levan’s referral to Dr. Sekhon was one of the best things that ever happened to me. I loved Dr. Sekhon and every single person in his group. If I telephoned the office with a question, I always got a rapid response, and they greeted me with a smile when I arrived for an appointment.

Dr. Sekhon did a thorough examinatin of me and my spine the first time I saw him. Each time I saw him thereafter, he explained things to me verbally, showed me what was happening to my neck by using a model that disassembled, and sent me home with comprehensive written information regarding the surgery he would be performing if it became necessary. I received illustrations, info on each person in the office, including Lisa, his super assistant, and a paper covering 50 consecutive surgeries including demographics and outcomes — following these patients for ten years.

Any referrals Dr. Sekhon made were to doctors I liked very much. I trusted them; they were professional. Eventually, after as many conservative measures as he could try, I underwent a posterior cervical spine decompression and fusion surgery much more extensive than three previous anterior surgeries I had undergone over the last 30 years by three separate doctors.

Here is what occurred after my surgery:

I woke up expecting to be totally miserable, opening one eye and waiting for the pain to hit me. It did not. I had a better experience in the pain department with this surgery than ever — wonderful surprise. I was able to go off pain medication within a short time.

I left the hospital in two days — much faster than any of my other surgeries. I was able to resume my workouts in six weeks and am doing splendidly; my personal trainer agrees.

I do not suffer from the agonizing shooters and zingers that went through my body before the surgery. My husband noticed a couple of weeks after the surgery that I was no longer dropping things. Also, I noticed that a major problem with my balance has pretty much vanished.

Best of all, I have been able to resume the activities of my life that had to wait for awhile.

I would recommend Dr. Sekhon and his group wholeheartedly to anyone who needs a neurosurgeon.

Its been a year since

Its been a year since you performed surgery on my husband. You may remember him as he arrived in your office in excruciating pain on an ambulance gurney from Quincy. He suffered kidney failure and spent a week in the telemetry ward before you could operate.

I was having pain in my neck, back, hand and arm like I had never felt in my life. I went to my regular Dr. he had me do an MRI and as soon as he looked at the results, he referred me to Dr. Sekhon. I was very nervous about having to go see a Neurosurgeon but he told me to relax that this Dr. is one of the best in the world and couldn’t ask for a better one. Luckily he was here in Reno.
After going in for my visit the first time, I knew this was the Dr. that I would let operate on me if I was going to have it done. He spent the better part of an hour with me explaining what was happening in my neck and arm. Never once did he push the operation on me, he even suggested that I bring my wife in for a consultation so that she understood what was wrong with me and the plan for fixing it.
After that I was very nervous about having some one cut my neck open and put in 16 screws and 2 rods in my neck while removing part of the vertebra, but who better to do it then Dr. Sekhon.
After my operation I felt so much better the pain was gone instantly. After a short stay in the hospital I was sent home with instructions on what to do and the best way to heal. Each visit to Dr. Sekhon showed how much he and his staff cared about each patient.
After 2 months I was released to go back to work and 3 months I was released from any restrictions. I was so happy to go back to the gym and continue the rehab.

Several doctors had examined me and tried to relieve the pain but nothing had worked. My primary care doctor referred me to Dr. Manzi in the Renown Health group. Dr. Manzi tested the nerves in both legs and determined that I should see a surgeon, and recommended Dr. Sekhon. After reviewing my records and X-rays he determined surgery was the next step. Surgery was scheduled for March 31, 2011. Surgery was a breeze for me and I discontinued all pain medicine within two weeks. Since that time I continue to be pain free. Dr. Sekhon and staff have improved my quality of life.

I had back surgery on December 29, 2010. I won’t lie and say it was easy because it definitely was not. However, I am 100 per cent better. My posture has improved and I am pretty much pain free. My name is Russell and I was referred to Dr. Lali Sekhon, M.D. because of a severe narrowing of my spinal canal due to spurs in my neck. My left hand was curling and I was loosing it’s use. I was unable to lift my right foot and had been getting a sore similar to a boil every winter on the knuckle of little toe on my left foot for over 8 years.
When I first visited Nevada Neurosurgery, I already knew I had to have surgery because of the severity of the narrowing on my spine and had no idea if it would fix any of my problems. I did know that there was a very good chance of paralysis if I fell wrong and I did trip all the time.

Dr. Sekhon and his associate Lisa Hertz went over my reports and films with me, did their examination, explained and showed us what the procedures and risks there were, with and without the surgery and I felt comfortable in their skills and the confidence they projected. They did not let me down.

I had a Lami/Fusion from C-1 through T-1 (my spinal canal had narrowed down to 7mm) on November 10, 2010 at Renown Hospital in Reno, Nevada. As far as I amconcerned the surgery was more than successful. Dr. Sekhon and Lisa Herz preformed the surgery and I could not have had better.

There is no pain now and I only had to take pain medication for 13 days before I stopped and felt comfortable. I can now wear a shoe on my left foot again and can lift my right foot again to a certain degree. The Neurological staff at Renown Hospital are professionals and compassionate to their patients and I recommend all of them. My neck moves better than it did an I do not even notice having the surgery done.

On March 25th I did

On March 25th I did a compressed fracture of T9 from snowboarding off a 70ft jump during practice for a competition and was airlifted to the spinal trauma unit in Reno. Dr Lali Sekhon was the doctor who assessed me and did my surgery the day after arriving. I had just turned 18 and my parents were back in Australia, so it was very helpful when Dr Sekhon contacted my parents to fill them in on everything, and replied instantly to all their calls and texts.
Before surgery Dr Sekhon said he was confident my back would return to full strength. I ended up having 6 screws and 3 rods put in, I have done a lot of rehab and got the all clear after 6 months. All the specialists that I went to in Australia have been very impressed, so apart from breaking my back I was very lucky to be in that hospital with all the staff who helped me out and to have such a fantastic surgeon. He also helped us deal with the insurance company and their medical staff and made sure we had everything we needed to get home.
March 25th is almost here again a year later and on that day I will be on a plane to Italy to compete in the Jr World Championships for Slope style. So without the help of all the Staff and Dr Lali Sekhon at the spinal trauma unit I wouldn’t be back to where I am now and competing in what I love. It was a tough road getting back into snowboarding, and I have definitely tested out my new hard wear in my back with some massive crashes and even landing on my back off some jumps and it has been fine!
So thanks so much again to Dr Sekhon, Nevada Neurosurgery and everyone who helped me out at the hospital, couldn’t have done it without you! 🙂

I found Dr.Sekhon, Lisa & staff to be very professional,courteous & knowledgeable. Dr. Sekhon provides you with all the information you would need in which to make your decision for your health care. Dr. Sekhon suggested conservative treatment for me first but this did not change my neck pain. Dr. Sekhon then went over all information regarding the next step which would be surgery I had a C3-C4, C4-C5, and C5-C6 anterior cervical decompression with fusion. The day after surgery I was without pain, had strength back in both my arms and legs and was released from the hospital on that day. Recovery at home has been quicker than anticipated and I have gone back to work after 4 weeks, (2 weeks of part-time and then full time) I will be starting physical therapy 2 to 3 times a week for 8 weeks. I would highly recommend Dr. Sekhon to anyone and everyone who would be looking for a skilled surgeon who listens to your every word and feels your quality of life is very important. I had already spoken to several surgeons before I saw Dr. Sekhon. I was looking for a surgeon with great references and copious experience with cervical artificial disc replacement. Dr. Sekhon met these requirements. He came highly recommended by staff at a facility where he trained and by a another respected academic spine surgeon.I had my initial consultation with him just 2 days after I called to make an appointment. At that visit, he explained to me the pros and cons of all my options, including fusion instead of artificial disc. He spent over 1 hour doing this in an unbiased and easy to follow presentation that confirmed everything I already knew. His engaging and personable bedside manner was terrific and I quickly felt comfortable with him. When I decided a day later on a Friday to go forward with artificial disc replacement, he had me in the operating room the following Tuesday. That’s not bad for an elective surgery.Dr. Sekhon is clearly comfortable with artificial disc replacement surgery. He showed attention to detail in getting my spine decompressed and making sure I had an ideal fit with the disc device. The operation occurred without incident.In the recovery phase, he and his office staff have been quick and courteous about responding to all of my needs. It has been seven weeks

It has been seven weeks since my surgery and I just want to thank you and all the staff for the great job you did. I’m still healing from my surgery. About 9 months post op. My pain levels went from completely unbearable to easily manageable without medication within a few weeks. Arm, shoulder, and back pain were all gone almost immediately. My neck still bothers me and probably will forever. Not only was the surgeon amazing but his staff is amazing as well. It’s been 9 months and I still owe money but they are always kind and understanding with me. I will get them paid off soon. If I ever need a neurosurgeon again. This is the only place I’ll go.

What a great Doctor!

What a great Doctor! I appreciate that Dr. Sekhon has a very conservative approach about suggesting what the right path of therapy should be for me, he makes sure that on rocks are overturned before moving forward. I knew that I was placing my health in the right hands to trust with my Spine/neck fusion of disc surgery. In January of 2020, I went ahead with the surgery, and I was in the hospital for one day, and I have no pain in my neck or spinal region since. For the following two weeks that I was off work, but I was able to sleep for 10-12 hours a night and get out and walk trails again for the first time in over a year. Life is getting back to normal again and with no pain! I am truly grateful that Dr. Sekhon has developed and surrounded himself with a great team, from his PA Gregory Graves, his whole office staff and the surgical staff that monitored all my vitals and nerve tests during my surgery.
